Does that most include you?
In this sea of many
When does most become few?
“Trust in most” – does it say?
Is it now, here today?
When it lands in my hands
Is this card good to play?
“Trust in most” – but how high?
What is too far to fly?
Will I fall at a wall
And hit an unseen lie?
Deep, dark, great expanse
Lies stretched out around me
Dotted with distant stars
Almost too far to see
Many mirrors, a mirage
Who knows what’s there, really
Space sealed into time
Someone lost the key
Images float by
Fact, fiction all collide
Reality warped
Reach for ropes to guide
Dark universe of night
Where can I hold on
Time slips through my hands
Wait through dark til dawn
Walking on a bridge so high
Finding footholds in the sky
So much to lose, so far to fall
But not crossing will lose it all
Sunset light is fading fast
Don’t know how long time will last
Thin tangled railings line the way
That must be crossed here, now, today
On this bridge I only see
The churning water under me
I can’t see, but still I know
That there are strong supports below
They’re grounded in the solid rock
And to the shore they safely dock
So I have no need to dread
If I will keep my eyes ahead
Looking back in clearer skies
I see the trapeze crystalize
To form a backdrop, solid ridge
That guides me on to the next bridge
I wasn’t really sure if I was right or wrong
But the elephant in the room showed where I belong
All the way to town I was looking for a shoe
When all along all that I was missing was you
The hardest way to go is to try the wrong way first
You never get the tune til you sing the second verse
You can talk to me til you are blue in the face
But do not judge until you see the tortoise win the race
Why is life so mixed up, I’ll never know for sure
But someday it will all make sense if we can endure
Tell me, is there something out there
I can find if I keep on?
Tell me, is all that I worked for
Still inside or is it gone?
Tell me, where are all the people
That I thought were friends of mine?
Tell me, whether this direction
Levels out on down the line?
I can tell you, it’s not easy
To have faith when you can’t see
I can tell you all the times we
Acted on uncertainty
I can tell you, you may never
Know why things were like they were
I can tell you every detour
Made us press on even more
Faith is acting, not just hoping
Things will work out down the road
Live today with trust and courage
Worry just weighs down your load
Give us hope in this dark hour
Give us unity and power
Give us wisdom day by day
Give us truth in what we say
Show us the right way to go
Show us answers we don’t know
Show us how to work as one
Show us peace where there is none
Lead us toward our earnest goals
Lead us each to fill our roles
Lead us in the way to talk
Lead our ships safely to dock
Save us from the storms outside
Save us from our pasts, our pride
Save us when we trip and fall
Save us when we hit the wall
